Mens Flip Flops & Sandals

Explore Men's Thongs and Sandal Styles

Not all casual footwear has the same design. Men's thongs and sandals come in different shapes, from traditional beach thongs to styles with broader straps and more covered silhouettes.

Classic Men's Thongs

Classic thongs, also known as flip-flops, feature a Y-shaped strap that sits between the toes. They're a familiar choice for Australian beach days, poolside wear and relaxed everyday outfits. Explore men's thongs from brands including Havaianas, Reef, Rip Curl, Quiksilver and Kustom.

Men's Sandals

Sandals offer alternatives to the traditional toe-post design, with styles that can feature wider straps, open toes or additional foot coverage. City Beach's men's sandals range includes options from Reef, Dr Martens, Crocs and other footwear brands. Compare the strap design, sole shape and overall silhouette when choosing a pair.

Clogs and Mules

Clogs and mules provide another approach to casual slip-on footwear. Clogs generally have a more enclosed front, while mules feature an open back and can vary in how much of the foot they cover. City Beach stocks clog styles from Crocs and mule styles from Quiksilver. These silhouettes are worth considering when you want something different from an open-toe thong.

Men's Slides

Slides are a separate slip-on style, generally featuring a strap or band across the top of the foot rather than a toe post. They work with casual outfits and are commonly chosen for relaxed, everyday wear. Browse men's slides for alternatives from brands including Nike, adidas and Crocs.

Understanding Fits, Straps and Footwear Designs

The main differences between men's thongs and sandals are their strap placement, foot coverage and overall construction. Traditional thongs use a toe-post design, while other sandals can feature straps across or around the foot. Clogs and mules have more covered front sections, making them visually distinct from open-toe footwear.

When comparing styles, check the product images and descriptions for strap positioning, footbed shape, sole design and any listed adjustments. Sizing can vary between brands, so refer to the individual product's available sizes and size guide rather than assuming every pair fits the same way.

Colours, Prints and Design Details

Men's thongs and sandals at City Beach are available in a range of colours, including black, brown, blue, grey, green and white. Black and neutral styles are easy to coordinate with different casual outfits, while brighter colours can add contrast to a simple look.

The range also features plain, printed, striped, camo, palm and colour-block designs. Plain thongs suit a minimal look, while printed styles can complement graphic tees, patterned board shorts or casual beachwear. Brand logos, strap shapes and different sole profiles also contribute to each design's appearance.

How to Choose and Style Men's Thongs and Sandals

Choosing between thongs and sandals comes down to where you plan to wear them, your preferred silhouette and the design features you want.

For beach days and poolside outfits, classic thongs are an easy option to pair with board shorts and a casual tee. For weekend outings, sandals with wider straps can create a different look alongside shorts and a relaxed shirt. Clogs and mules offer alternative styling options for everyday casual wear.

For a coordinated outfit, match black or neutral footwear with printed clothing, or choose a colour that appears elsewhere in your outfit. If you prefer a bolder look, printed thongs can add detail to otherwise simple pieces.
