Transforming Managers to Leaders (4 to 8 hours):

What are the differences between "management" and "leadership", if any? Is it sufficient to merely manage those around us to complete a task and "get the job done"? Or is it that we must we lead them to a place of big-picture understanding and taking ownership... of creativity, innovation, and outside the box thinking... of empowerment to be better than they ever thought possible? As we move into the new economy and New World of the 21st century, it may no longer be enough to simply "do things right" - perhaps it's time to teach our people and leaders to "do the right things". That is the premise of this seminar.

Leadership Styles 101 (4 to 8 hours):

What should a leader do to ensure the best possible performance on critical tasks? This depends on both the performer's understanding of the importance of the task, as well as the nature of the task. Simply put, different leadership strategies are called for in different contexts. Managers and leaders must be able to confidently achieve results through their team members. This seminar provides tips, techniques, and strategies to improve a leader's ability to direct, delegate, motivate, and coach.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be better equipped to:

  • Identify when it is appropriate to direct, delegate, motivate, or coach
  • Recognize the stages and behaviors of teams
  • Deliver feedback in a timely and effective manner
  • Coach team members to improve performance
  • Use appropriate recognition strategies for team member performance
  • Discern the difference between "relationship" versus "task" behaviors
  • Understand how Situational Leadership can empower their teams

Strategic Management - setting the direction (4 to 8 hours):

When strategic decisions are made, they usually affect everyone in an organization. Leaders and managers must work to get everyone committed to a common purpose, a set of operating values, strategic goals, and initiatives. These must all be balanced in such a way that everyone's energies are aligned toward accomplishing those things that produce the highest impact.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be better equipped to:

  • Identify and take stock of their organization's resources
  • Formulate a solid Mission Statement and set of Core Values
  • Manage projects on a daily basis
  • Clarify results to team members, and leverage those results to generate "buy-in"
  • Interpret how industry and market trends affect the organization
  • Set a direction for their organization and guide their people to follow
  • Identify the major building blocks of the strategic planning process
  • Analyze the organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats (SWOT)
  • Set organization-wide goals and define objectives
