Climbing School

Belay Safety Class (age 12 and up)

Completion of the Belay Safety Class is the first step towards obtaining your belay certificate card which allows climbers to use the top rope belay systems in the Rock Club. Climbers lacking the belay certificate card will be restricted to the Auto Belay Systems. Climbers age 12-17 years old are required to complete the YCP follow up class and test to get their card. This one hour class will set participants up to successfully pass the required Belay Safety Test outlined previously. Advanced reservations are required. Six (6) person max per class.

Fee: $20 per person

Class Schedule: Tuesday - Friday 7PM, Saturday @ 11:30AM or Sunday @ 1:30PM (Parent/Child Belay Lesson Only)

Introduction to Indoor Climbing (18 and older)

We've made it easy! This class is designed to cover the basic belay safety class curriculum in addition to basic movement on rock techniques. Students will learn to properly fit a harness and tie into the harness with a figure-eight follow through knot, threading an ATC belay device, catching a falling climber and lowering a climber back to the gym floor. We will introduce basic climbing movement and spotting techniques and rock club etiquette. This two hour class is designed specifically for those with very little climbing experience or for those that need a refresher. Women only classes are scheduled once a month.

Introduction to Bouldering

Bouldering is one of the fastest growing genres of climbing today! Our two hour Intro to Bouldering class will help individuals increase strength and power and improve overall climbing techniques by combining dynamic motion with traditional climbing movement.

Movement on Rock I

This introductory 2-hour class will focus on effective hand and foot positioning in addition to use of the core muscle groups to optimize body positioning and maximize power and endurance. This class demonstrates how to use climbing features effectively and students will learn the basic climbing maneuvers such as back stepping, crimping, flagging, mantling and more. Join us as we learn how to maximize hand and footholds, achieve more effective body positioning and improve your breathing rhythm, footwork and overall climbing abilities.

Movement on Rock II

To climb hard, you need strength, endurance, determination and focus. The Movement on Rock II class will take you to the next level and focus on harnessing your dynamic power and polishing your movement techniques in addition to refining your breathing rhythm, introducing rout scouting strategies and determining you current climbing level.

Introduction to Indoor Lead Climbing (age 14 and up)

Are you ready to take the sharp end? First, we better practice catching a falling lead climber. This 2 hour class is designed for the climber that has mastered Top Rope climbing and is ready to take the lead. We will instruct proper and efficient clipping techniques, body position, and rope management as a lead climber. Our lead belay instruction is intense and rigorous. It has to be before we can give you the responsibility of belaying a lead climber. If you're seeking high adventure or wanting to explore a bold new world this is the climbing course for you.

Private Lessons

Private one-on-one or semi-private instruction is available by appointment only for individuals or groups of 4 or less. Curriculum is specifically designed to address your personal development goals.

Fee: $45 per person. $15 each additional person up to four total.
