Q. What is City Beach?
A. We’re a sports, recreation and event center, but City Beach is something unique to each guest who walks in the door. From our warm, welcoming Rock Gym community to the corporate companies who come here every year for their team and group events, our guests define who and what we are. Your experiences, your needs, and your enjoyment remain our top priority, and we strive to bring you the best each and every time you come (and then top that the next time!) We pride ourselves on being a one-of-a-kind venue offering a variety of ways to provide you the best experience possible.
Q. How Can I use City Beach?
A. Your options are as endless as your imagination. In fact, we challenge you to come up with an event, and we’ll find a way to make it happen. Bay Area companies, community organizations, friends and families have come to City Beach for more than 15,000 corporate and private events, as well as just good, old-fashioned fun. We offer a wide variety of games, activities and interactive programs in over 42,000 square feet of spectacular space. Our Fremont facility is open to the public for general fun, offering indoor rock climbing, a full restaurant and bar, bocce ball lanes on our courtyard patio and an entertainment hub with table games and more (just walk on in… our hours can be found here) as well as corporate and social events.
Q. What is the difference between your locations?
Our two facilities operate as one company, but they are not identical facilities. Our Fremont facility is the City Beach “flagship” -the building is open to general traffic every day and contains the Rock Gym, our bar & grill restaurant, as well as entertainment hubs with table games, bocce ball and more. Our Santa Clara facility is our “satellite” building. City Beach Santa Clara is the headquarters for our highly successful Jr. Volleyball Team, in addition to being an event and social occasion space. You can book events in either location, but if you’re looking to walk in any day for an afternoon of fun, climbing or relaxation, City Beach Fremont is the place to be.
Q. Can I just walk in and find something to do?
A. Absolutely! Our Fremont facility is open to the general public. We offer rock climbing, a full restaurant and bar dining experience, entertainment hubs with billiards, Foosball, ping pong, shuffleboard and more, bocce ball lanes, sports courts available to rent per hour, and more. Q. Do you provide donations to local schools and non-profit organizations?
A. Yes, City Beach is proud to support our local community whenever we can. Due to the high number of requests, you must submit your request in writing. Please mail a letter on school/non-profit letterhead that states when your event is and what your donation request is to Attn: Donation Requests, City Beach, 4020 Technology Place, Fremont, CA 94538. Donation requests are reviewed on a monthly basis.
Events At City Beach
I want to get some information on booking an event at City Beach. How can I inquire about your services?

How many people can you accommodate?
The number of people depends on the specific event space or spaces available. Fremont can accommodate groups of 10 t0 1,500 people. Our entire building is about 42,000 square feet, so hosting a huge event is well within our capabilities.
If your event is over 350 guests, you may want to inquire about booking the entire facility. We can close the building down for your event, which gives you unlimited access to the Rock Gym, Restaurant, Bocce Lanes and more. (Booking the facility will incur additional costs.) In any case, we can definitely provide the perfect space for every City Beach guest.
What are your typical prices for events?
We have a variety of programs and options to accommodate a wide variety of needs and budgets. All group events consist of a program fee or venue rental fee and a food & beverage fee. Each indoor event space has an “entertainment hub” exclusive to your group during event hours. Our Sports Courts event space includes 2 Sports Courts which can be set for basketball, volleyball and/or badminton. Our beautiful outdoor space, the Courtyard Patio, features a sculptural fountain, fire pit and 4 bocce courts.
We also offer a wide range of enhancements for your party, such as our Robo-surfer, Facilitated Activities, Inflatables, Flaming Chainsaw jugglers, etc…(maybe not the chainsaws…). Depending on the programs, enhancements, alcohol service, buffet service and appetizers that you select, you may be looking at up to $100.00-$120.00 per person. Sales tax (8.75% in Fremont and 8.25% in Santa Clara) is applied to the total, as well as an 18% service charge on all Food and Beverage items.

Do I have to choose a Facilitated Team Building Program if I want to have my event at City Beach?
Our facilitated team building experiences (including, but not limited to Hang Ten, Games of the Olympiad, The Show of Shows, Extreme Chef, Ultimate Team Challenge, The Race and our High Ropes Expedition and Revolution) are wonderful components to many of our corporate and social events, however, we also are happy to provide a “Hang Loose” party, where you come and have some fun, eat some great food and just enjoy each other’s company.
How do I know what Team Building Program is right for my group?
Funny you should ask… Our programs were developed with different types of groups in mind. When you give us a call, our Event Managers will ask the right questions and make suggestions aimed directly at your group and your goals. They’re trained to fit the best program with the best groups. City Beach experiences can be tailored to your group (there are a few exceptions), so let’s talk about the possibilities.
I’ve never been to City Beach before. Can I just stop by and have a look around?
Absolutely! However, we’d love the opportunity to provide you with a guided tour with an Event Manager. Our Fremont facility is open to the public, and there isn’t a better way to discover what the facility has to offer than viewing it yourself. (You can always check out our videos and photos on the website, as well.) If you’re looking into our Santa Clara facility, please contact us to schedule a guided tour.
What are your payment procedure and schedule?
City Beach Group Services requires a deposit of 50% and a signed contract to confirm your event. Final payment will be processed 8 days before the event. We do accept cashier’s heck, but no personal checks.
When do I need to give City Beach a final head count and menu selections prior to my party?
We require a final head count and final menu selections 8 days prior to the event.
What happens to our invoice if we add some guests, food, amenities, etc. during our event?
Your event host will present you with a final invoice that reflects all of the changes requested during your event.
What are the differences between the Fremont and Santa Clara locations?
Apart from the obvious (Location!), the two facilities have significant differences in layout, amenities, and options. Events are booked at both locations, however the space and offerings are different. Fremont offers sports courts, entertainment hubs, a full restaurant & bar, rock climbing gym, outdoor seating and bocce ball lanes; Santa Clara offers a large, single-room space for your event, sports courts, food & beverage with your event and an entertainment hub. We want to decorate before our event…is this possible?
Absolutely! Or, if you’d like, we’re happy to do it for you. We have great relationships with décor companies for floral arrangements, lighting, centerpieces, linens, and more. Our relationships allow for us to offer the same pricing that you would get going directly to them, and we will do the work and let you enjoy the other aspects of planning your event.
If you want to come in and do it yourself, speak to your Event Manager to schedule the time to come in.
Can I bring my own food or hire an outside caterer?
City Beach provides the food and beverage for all booked events. We do allow for outside cakes, as well as champagne and wine (a $10/bottle corkage fee will apply). Our banquet staff is fully capable of dealing with special dietary needs like Gluten-free selections, peanut allergies, Halal and Kosher-style menus, and other customized options. We are happy to design a custom menu to ensure all of your guests are happy.
Can we bring in our own cake or champagne and wine?
Yes, you can. We charge a cake-cutting fee of $1.50 per person and a corkage fee of $10.00 per bottle of champagne or wine. One of the perks of City Beach is our ability to take the details out of your hands and handle them for you. We’re also happy to put together a specialty wine and champagne or dessert menu for you that will be very competitively priced, and we handle all of the heavy lifting.
We want to bring a DJ in for our event. Can you help with that?
We work with the best DJ companies in the Bay Area including Denon and Doyle, Alan Waltz, Sound In Motion, Events to the T, and many more. Depending on the needs for your event, we’re happy to guide you in the right direction or book the DJ for you. If you do decide to go out and find someone on your own, we’ll need to coordinate with them prior to your event to make sure they understand our policies and procedures. We do charge a $250 fee for ALL OUTSIDE VENDORS that are not booked as part of a City Beach contract.
When should I tell my guests to arrive?
Depending on when and where your event is, it’s best they arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to the event. We often have more than one event booked in a given day and want to be sure that your event is perfect from the moment your guests arrive.
